William R. Hutchison served for 32 years, 1968 to 2000, as Charles Warren Professor of the History of Religion in America at Harvard Divinity School, and is now Charles Warren Research Professor. His most recent book is Religious Pluralism in America: The Contentious History of a Founding Ideal, published by Yale University Press in 2003. First Woman AME Bishop Kicks off October 'Preaching, Prophecy, and Practice' Series

The Right Rev. Vashti Murphy McKenzie, the first woman to be elected bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (in July, 2000), was greeted in a reception at 5:30 pm, and then speak as part of a panel discussion on Wednesday, October 1, in the Sperry Room of Andover Hall. Kevin Madigan has been Assistant Professor of the History of Christianity at Harvard Divinity School since 2000. His specialty is high-medieval scholastic biblical exegesis and theology, which is the topic of his most recent book, Olivi and the Interpretation of Matthew in the High Middle Ages, published by the University of Notre Dame Press.
