HDS communications reached out to our 2021 graduating students to hear from them in their own words about their experiences at HDS, the people who've helped and inspired them along their grad school journeys, and their plans for the future.

Words of Inspiration

God speaks to us in stories, and those stories are our lives. So, if we are truly present in every moment, we will never lose sight of God.

How I've Changed

Since I started at Harvard Divinity School, I have learned to love myself in ways that I never could before. I did this through art of "meaning-making" that allows every moment of my life to reflect my values. I have learned to balance multiple realities so that I can work to create harmony between them. My leadership has become more intentional in being about enabling others to discover their own capacity to lead.

Memorable Moment

My most memorable moments at Harvard Divinity have been the first time that I met each of my closest friends. Every time was like meeting another member of my long-lost spiritual family. We were already so familiar and ready to share everything about our lives in a way that didn't require thinking twice. It is that reflex of love and trust towards those who have chosen this path that I will take with me everywhere I go.

What I Hope to Be Remembered By

I hope to be remembered by my unconditional love for all of my community members, even if it sometimes was a tough love. That I am dedicated to the truth as the ultimate purpose of our existence. That I am okay with being wrong if it means we can make the world a more righteous and loving place. That I can always be called on to remind people what makes them so special and worthy of all they wish for.

Future Plans

Two years ago, as I embarked on my journey at Harvard Divinity School, I co-founded a social enterprise called Milan Global. We equip at-risk and underserved youth with 21st-century skills by teaching them to build sustainable social movements. With the mentorship of the Harvard Innovation Lab over the last two years, it has been an exhilarating journey of peaks and valleys. My plans are to keep growing and gaining more knowledge and skills so I may empower as many young people to create the future we all deserve.
