Audio: David Lamberth Discusses Emerson's 'Divinity School Address'

July 15, 2013 marked the 175th anniversary of Ralph Waldo Emerson's famous "Divinity School Address," delivered to the HDS graduating class of 1838. The speech outraged many of Emerson's contemporaries but is today seen by many as a landmark in American theology.

David Lamberth, Professor of Philosophy and Theology at HDS, recently discussed the significance of the address, which took place on the HDS campus in Divinity Hall Chapel, along with its place in history and its contemporary relevance.

This audio feature will be the first in a new series we are calling "Critical Thinking," which will highlight the insights and thoughts of HDS faculty, students, and alumni on a range of important and timely topics.
