Celebrating Black History Month at HDS
Each year, Harambee: Students of African Descent at HDS organizes a series of special events to commemorate Black History Month (BHM).
This February, Harambee again offers several opportunities for those within the Harvard community, as well as our friends and neighbors outside the University, to celebrate and support BHM at Harvard Divinity School.
Events are supported by the Offices of Admissions, Student Life, Ministry Studies, and Religious and Spiritual Life, and sponsored by the HDS Diversity Fund.
- "The Shadow of the Cross: Growing Up in the Civil Rights Movement." Held on Monday, February 8, from 7 to 8 pm, in the Sperry Room, Andover Hall. Presentations by the Rev. Kaia Stern, of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice, and Wylene Branton Wood, president of the African American Historical Society of Rockland County, New York.
- "Telling Our Stories." A special Wednesday Noon Service hosted by Harambee: Students of African Descent at HDS. To be held Wednesday, February 24, from 12:10 to 12:45 pm, Andover Chapel.
